Jacksonville native Marine Corporal DJ Emery’s tour in Iraq was scheduled to end January 2007; instead it was extended. On February 7, 2007, DJ was severely injured in a suicide bombing. DJ spent 3 months in the Bethesda military hospital ICU unit and 2 more months in Walter Reed Hospital, before being transferred as an outpatient in Walter Reed’s Mologne House in late June where he remains, all the time with his mother and wife at his side. In April they were joined by DJ’s and Leslie’s newborn daughter. DJ has suffered the loss of both legs, limited use of one arm, major internal injuries and an extremely serious blood infection. Please help us support this family and Marine who supported all of us back home.
